Context & Decision Validity

When does a decision need to be reconsidered because its context has changed?

A decision can be reasonable when it is made and still become the wrong decision to continue executing. The management question is whether the assumptions, constraints, objectives, and conditions behind the decision are still valid.

What did the organization understand about the situation when the decision was made?

What has changed that could materially affect the basis or expected outcome of the decision?

Is the decision still appropriate under current conditions?

Which assumptions or constraints does the decision depend on, and are they still true?

When should a change in context trigger review, confirmation, modification, or reversal of the decision?

Can the organization recover the reasoning and context needed to understand why the decision was made?
